I was rummaging around in our cannon of blog entries seeking inspiration. I came across an entry from 12 years ago (!) that I found interesting: my wishes for my children in the upcoming year. From 2012, as follows:
- More hikes
- More wonder
- Less homework
- More days
spent at home in your pajamas
- More
chocolate chip cookie bars
- Less drama
- More sleep
- More music
- Less pressure
- More laughter
- More creative
writing
- And most of
all, more love!
This aged pretty well. Of course, homework is no longer an issue. But all the rest I would still wish for them. Two wishes I might add to this list are:
- More travel
- More
opportunity
Now anyone who knows our kids, knows they have travelled the world many times over. But now as twenty-somethings living on opposite coasts, it is getting harder and harder to get them both together and jet off somewhere. But there is still so much to see and do! So I wish more travel for them.
Opportunity comes into play because I feel like it has become insanely hard to get a job these days – even a low paying job with shifts, to pay the rent. Gone are the days when one would walk the mall filling out job applications – now everybody in the universe is digitally applying for every position. Companies are drowning in applications (and those are the ones lucky enough to make it past the bots). Anyway, I wish for them a little luck in this area.
Fingers crossed next year will bring some good things! We could all use them!
Thanks for reading!
Eve
