Since last night’s blog was a tirade against greeting cards with glitter, I decided to take a more positive view of things tonight and share with you my guilty pleasure.
It is none other than Carvel soft-serve vanilla ice cream. Creamy, sweet and so perfect every time.
Now some people have told me that vanilla is so boring. To them I say “It’s not boring. You’re boring.”
Not really. What I do say is that they haven’t savored the perfection of Carvel soft-serve vanilla ice cream. Vanilla is a blank sheet of canvas. Clean and unspoiled. Able to be enjoyed for its beauty in its own right. It is a comfort food in a category of its own.
Any when you’re looking for something a bit more snazzy, vanilla lends itself to so many options.
A squirt of hot fudge on top? Suddenly you’ve got a sundae.
Chocolate or multi-colored sprinkles? Now it’s a party in a cup.
Crumbled Reese’s peanut butter cups? Simply sublime.
And you don’t need a lot to turn an otherwise so-so day around. A small cone or cup does wonders for anyone’s disposition.
So the next time you pass a Carvel, I implore you to stop in. I promise you’ll thank me.
Thanks for reading.

I'm a vanilla fan, too. It's funny how much that bothers some people!
